Township residents often ask how the snow removal service is prioritized. Here is a summary of the policies:
- During storms, major thoroughfares and streets are cleared first, along with bridges, school zones, hills and steep-incline areas (including residential areas).
- Next, residential neighborhoods with flat terrain receive attention.
- Continuing snow and wind, extremely low temperatures and ice that intermittently melts and freezes can prolong the time it takes for an operator to complete a route.
The street-by-street priorities are as follows:
Major Roads – County Line (Frederick to Dog Leg), Furnas, Kley, Antioch School, Jackson, Pattys Curve, Aullwood, Meeker, Kershner, Kinmont, Stonequarry, Engle, Brantford, Stop Eight, Benchwood, Towne Center, York Commons, Commerce Center and Maxton
Bridges – Meeker and Frost
Steep Hills – Meeker Creek, Singing Ridge, Cloverleaf, Rockwell and Landsend
School Zones – Stonequarry
Secondary Streets – Hertlein, Claude, Lambert, Old Country, Wild Cherry, Alvira, and Malina
Cul-de-Sacs and Dead Ends – all other roads in the township located in subdivision
County Roadways – All other major roadways such and North Dixie, Miller, Old Springfield, Little York, Peters, Dog Leg, Healthcliff, Lightner, Martindale and Frederick are plowed and maintained by Montgomery County
