On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Butler Township residents will be asked to consider two public safety levies — one for the Police Department and one for the Fire/EMS Department. Each levy is 2.5 mills, for a combined total of 5.0 mills.
These levies are focused on:
- Maintaining current emergency service levels
- Providing stable, sustainable funding for public safety
- Addressing existing funding gaps in Police and Fire/EMS operations
It has been 10 years since voters approved a police levy and 23 years since voters approved a fire/EMS levy. Since that time, call volumes and operating costs have continued to increase.
Visit the official Police and Fire/EMS Levy Information page below for FAQs, cost breakdowns, and additional details: https://butlertownship.com/community/2026-police-and-fire-ems-levies/.
We encourage all residents to stay informed ahead of the May 5 election.
