The Trash Department contracts with a waste disposal contractor to provide trash service to all residents of Butler Township. The contract is sent out to bid on a regular basis to ensure that we are providing the best rates and service to our residents. Our current contract is with Rumpke.

Weekly trash removal services are provided through a contract between Butler Township and Rumpke. Residents pay the negotiated fee to the township, which in turn, then pays the hauler. If you are new to the community, you may arrange for trash pickup by calling the township at (937) 898-6735. Recycling is provided as part of the service, although it is not required. There is no rate reduction for not using recycling.
Our residents spoke, and we listened. Many residents have asked us to offer them paperless billing and online payments. Butler Township has launched a new online billing and payment solution, offering more ways to view and pay your trash bill, plus the addition of 24/7 phone payments and pay by text. Residents can receive and view bills electronically, make a payment with credit/debit card or e-check, and choose to go paperless. You can also call to make a payment by phone at 1-855-967-1047.

A quick, one-time payment can be made without registering or you can create an account to enjoy more features like setting up automatic payments, saving payment information for later use and viewing payment history.
For consolidated bills over $200, customers can still use ACI Payments, Inc. Visit www.officialpayments.com or call 1-800-2PAYTAX (use jurisdiction code 8425). ACI Payments, Inc. accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
Effective January 1, 2026
Regular Residential Trash Service: $19.50 per month.
Low-Volume Trash Service: $18.25 per month.
Service is limited to one (1) thirty-five (35) gallon container, which will be provided by the hauler. Residents enrolled in the low-volume service will also receive recycling bins and scheduled bulk-item pickup at no additional cost.
Late Fees
A late fee of ten percent (10%) of the billed amount will be assessed for each month the bill remains unpaid.
Assessments
All delinquent trash service accounts will be certified annually to the County Auditor prior to October 1. Assessment notices are issued beginning in August. A $100.00 administrative fee will be added to each account at the time the delinquent balance is placed on the property tax assessment.
Returned Checks
A fee of $35.00 will be charged for all returned checks. Applicable late fees will also apply.
As part of your waste removal service, Rumpke will pick up bulk items on the same day as your regular trash service. Bulk item pick-up must be scheduled through Rumpke’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-223-3960 at least 48 hours in advance of your next pickup day. Please note: Rumpke does apply a charge per item for Freon removal.
Many products that we use every day contain hazardous materials that can be dangerous to people and the environment. These items should never go into your regular trash. Common examples include:

Rumpke observes the following holidays:
If your trash pick-up day falls on or after one of these holidays, collections will be delayed one day for that week. If a holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday, there will be no delays in service.
Yard waste may be co-mingled with regular trash in any type of trash bag. Each household with regular trash service is limited to a total of six co-mingled bags/containers per week. Low volume service yard waste must be co-mingled and fit inside the 35-gallon trash container.
Additional sticks and limbs may be set out for collection if it is tied in individual bundles, not to exceed four (4) feet in length and twenty-four inches in diameter.
Leaf Collection is available from Oct. 15 through Dec. 15 of each year. Leaves that have been set out for collection in individual biodegradable plastic or paper bags, having approximately fifty (50) gallons capacity, will be picked up by the hauler each week on your service day.
